FOCAL ( Friends of Central Library) present a report by Noluvuyo on a UKUVUKA PARTNERSHIP PROJECT that is being conducted in the townships.
A poverty relief project with a difference - it's aim is to teach people to help themselves to create sustainable income - producing vegetable gardens and give people living with HIV/AIDS the opportunity for healthy eating.
Talks are held in the Meeting Room 3rd Floor, City Hall, Darling Street Cape Town from 2:15 - 3:45. All welcome.No charge. Tea & biscuits served. Enquries: please phone 467 1568/467 1573

Monthly talks /lecture on a variety of topics are held on the last Saturday of each month

There is no charge but FOCAL welcomes a small voluntary donation to cover cost of teas, etc.

After WSSD: a way towards a cleaner environment and sustainable development?

Barry's talk will describe the problem of climate change and international moves to combat this, in particular the CDM and SSN's contribution to CDM, in particular the sustainable development Criteria and indicators that we use. Some examples of the kind of projects which SSN is exploring in the four countries in which we operate will be presented.

August:
Expedition to Kyrghyzstan - climbing in the Kuksay glacier area by Andrew Kendall

Andrew was one of the climbers involved in this expedition. In an illustrated talk he will share with us the joys as well as the pains experienced by the climbers in this little known area

June:
Guest speaker, Janette Deacon will provide an illustrated talk on the rock engravings of the Northern Cape done by the ancestors of the /Xam San found in the Northern Cape

March:
Keith Grenville, actor,director and Egyptologist shared with us his enthusiasm for his subject in a talk illustrated with slides on the tomb of Tutankhamon, the young Egyptian prince.
